Yet another Parkinson ’s Disease drug has been blamed for causing an addiction to casino internet games, land casino games, and other types of gambling. The Parkinson’s drug Mirapex was found to cause addictions to casino internet games, or regular land casino games in a 2005 study. Since then, a spate of lawsuits has been launched against its maker, a German pharmaceuticals company. Now, the drug Requip, which is made by GlaxoSmithKline, has also been implicated in causing casino internet games and other gambling addictions. A retired pathologist, Max Wells, 55, has decided to sue both the drug companies and the casino that took his money while he was under the influence of the Parkinson’s drug. According to the complaint, Wells occasionally played casino internet games and other gambling games throughout his life. However, when he was prescribed Requip, he began to gamble compulsively. Wells lost $15 million, mostly in casinos in Las Vegas. Wells is suing GlaxoSmithKline because he said that the drug company failed to warn him that taking Requip could cause addictions to casino internet games, land casino gambling, and other compulsive behaviors. He is also suing seven Las Vegas casinos because he claims that they took advantage of his medical condition.
